Has anyone ever asked you: "How'd your job interview go?"
Ever wondered how someone else's went?
Well here's your chance to find out!

Our mission here is very simple.

Think of this forum as a tool that puts a little more power in the hands of you the job applicant. You're already stressed out enough having to spend hours on job posting web sites like Careerbuilder and Monster, sending resumes, making follow up phone calls and overall, trying to impress hiring managers enough to give you a shot at your dream job.

All we're doing is "Secret Shopping" all those corporate hiring managers out there.

The feedback you post will be utilized by all who view it to motivate, not criticize. Ok, if you have a legitimate criticism, please feel free to voice your opinion however you see fit.

Company Name:
Expressway Inc.

Position:
Straight Truck Driver

Current status in the interview process:
1/18 – The recruiter called me with information on this position. She informed me that these are “over the road” positions which means you may be out on the road for a couple weeks at a time. They want straight trucks with 22’-24’ boxes, prefer with sleeper and don’t go over 26,000 GVW or Gross Vehicle Weight.
1/14 – Receptionist took my name and number, said she would pass my info to the recruiter.
1/7 – Spoke to the route dispatcher and he said he would relay the message to have a recruiter call me.

Salary information:
The driver positions vary in pay but the recruiter said an average is $2,000 per week for over the road work. Doesn’t sound too bad until you figure that you need to deduct your truck payment, fuel, repairs, insurance, etc. from your weekly earnings.
Here’s a little more info:
Cargo Vans - $.80 per mile
Cube Vans - $.90 per mile
Straight Trucks. 22 and 24 footers - $1.20 per mile
Fuel Surcharge
100 percent of the fuel surcharge is to the owner-operator with an average FSC of around 20 percent.

Company Name:
Empire Today

Position:
In Home Sales Consultant

Current status in the interview process:
6/14 – First one on one interview. Position involves selling flooring, window treatments and siding to customers in their homes. All leads are provided but, as an independent contractor, expenses are quite high. Contractors must incorporate and are responsible for having their own truck (to carry all the samples), gas, insurance, repair and so on. It seems like a good company and I may pursue the position at a later date, but judging by the state of this economy, I would say that people are in no hurry to start home improvement projects.
6/10 – Called to follow up on resume submission and setup interview
6/7 – Saw the ad in the Sunday classifieds and emailed my resume

Salary information:
Average $50,000 first year potential
