This is where you can read about, post details on and/or search for information regarding the interview process for all companies beginning with the letter "G."

Our mission here is very simple.
Think of this forum as a tool that puts a little more power in the hands of you the job applicant. You're already stressed out enough having to spend hours on job posting web sites like Careerbuilder and Monster, sending resumes, making follow up phone calls and overall, trying to impress hiring managers enough to give you a shot at your dream job.
All we're doing is "Secret Shopping" all those corporate hiring managers out there.
The feedback you post will be utilized by all who view it to motivate, not criticize. Ok, if you have a legitimate criticism, please feel free to voice your opinion however you see fit.

Company Name:
Gordon Food Service
Position:
Food Sales Representative
Current status in the interview process:
11/5 – Received an offer from the Sales Manager. Now, most companies do drug tests, but these guys do hair drug tests! To sell food? Yeah, I thought the guy was kidding when he said: “all we need to do is have you come in this week and we’ll take a snip of your hair.” Here’s the clincher though, after going through all the usual “offer letter” type verbiage, the Sales Manager actually said: “Couple things we’ll need you to do because you will be new and you’ll need to earn your stripes. We’ll need you to get to the office about 30 minutes before everybody else and make sure that the toilet paper is full in the bathrooms and the coffee is made.” I thought, “what is this guy smokin’!” I don’t have a problem coming in early or helping out around the office, but this place seemed more like a fraternity and I had to pledge to get into it. I’m surprised he didn’t say that I may have to cut his toe nails from time to time. Needless to say, I didn’t pursue this position.
11/3 – Another interview with the Sales Manager and the Regional Manager. Wow, another hour of grilling and trick questions to see how sharp I was.
10/29 – Well, I must’ve made a good first impression because today was the “ride a long.” You have to understand that these ride a longs are very important because the employee that you are riding with is analyzing you the whole time and will report back to the hiring manager details about the day. This ride a long went well. We visited about 20 restaurants, talking with owners, taking food orders, making recommendations and handling some damage control for a couple of the unhappy ones.
10/26 – First face to face interview was with the Sales Manager and one of the Head Honcho Executive guys sat in on it. They grilled me back and forth for about an hour and they seemed to like to ask those off the wall questions like, “if you were a color, what color would you be” type questions.
10/22 – Called to confirm she received and setup interview with the local Sales Manager.
10/18 – Received information about this job through word of mouth. Looked on their web site and called the local office to inquire about who I should send a resume to and what method they preferred, i.e. – email, snail mail, fax. Got a contact name and an address.
Salary information:
Starts at $32,000 plus a company vehicle, laptop and cell phone.
